Joaquín Turina was een invloedrijke Spaanse componist, geboren in Sevilla in 1882. Zijn muziek is een weerspiegeling van zijn diepe wortels in de Andalusische folklore en zijn internationale opleiding. Turina studeerde in Sevilla en Madrid, maar het was zijn verblijf in Parijs tussen 1905 en 1914 dat zijn stijl sterk beïnvloedde.
