Josef Suk, geboren in 1929, was een uitstekende Tsjechische violist, altviolist en dirigent wiens carrière een rijke erfenis van muziek en kunstzinnigheid omvatte. Als kleinzoon van de beroemde componist Josef Suk (1874-1935) en leerling van de legendarische Antonín Dvořák, werd Josef Suk al op jonge leeftijd erkend als een talentvolle muzikant. Zijn vader en grootvader waren onderwijzers en zijn vader was ook dirigent en dorpsorganist, wat zijn muzikale opvoeding verder versterkte. Josef Suks werk omvat een breed scala aan genres, met een sterke focus op kamermuziek. Zijn muziek is bekend om zijn diepgaande emoties en technische virtuositeit, wat hem een unieke plaats in de wereld van de klassieke muziek heeft bezorgd.
