Over Wilhelm Stenhammar

Wilhelm Stenhammar, geboren op 7 februari 1871 in Stockholm, was een van de meest invloedrijke figuren in de Zweedse muziekwereld rond de jaren 1900. Als componist, pianist en dirigent bracht hij een onuitwisbare bijdrage aan de muziekgeschiedenis. Zijn werk omvat een brede palet van composities die zijn diepgaande muzikale inzicht en technische vaardigheid weerspiegelen. Stenhammar studeerde piano, orgel en compositie in Stockholm van 1887 tot 1892, wat zijn fundament legde voor een succesvolle carrière. Zijn muziek, die vaak wordt gekenmerkt door een rijke harmonie en een sterke emotionele expressie, blijft vandaag de dag bewonderd en opgevoerd. Stenhammar overleed op 20 november 1927 in Jonsered, maar zijn muzikale erfenis leeft voort en inspireert nieuwe generaties.
