Over Louis Spohr

Louis Spohr, geboren als Ludewig Spohr en later bekend onder de moderne vorm Ludwig, was een uitstekende Duitse componist, violist en dirigent wiens werk een vroege weerspiegeling vormt van de romantische periode in de Duitse muziek. Geboren in Brunswijk in 1784, werd Spohr al snel erkend als een wonderkind, wat leidde tot een indrukwekkende carrière die heel Europa omspande. Met een lengte van bijna twee meter, stond hij letterlijk boven zijn tijdgenoten uit en werd hij vaak de 'Duitse Paganini' genoemd.
