Fernando Sor, geboren in Barcelona in 1778 en overleden in Parijs in 1839, was een invloedrijke Spaanse klassieke gitarist en componist die actief was in de late Klassieke en vroege Romantische periode. Hij staat bekend om zijn solo-gitaarmuziek, maar zijn repertoire strekt zich verder uit tot opera's, symfonieën, pianomuziek, liederen, een Mis en balletten zoals Assepoester en Hercule et Omphale. Sor wordt beschouwd als een van de eerste gitaristen die de gitaar als een klassiek concertinstrument introduceerden.
