Rob van Bavel is een veelzijdig Nederlands pianist, componist, arrangeur en docent, geboren in 1965. Hij studeerde in 1987 cum laude af aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium en groeide uit tot een van de belangrijkste jazzpianisten van zijn generatie in Nederland. Met een rijke carrière die meer dan honderd cd's omvat, heeft Rob van Bavel gewerkt met diverse bands, variërend van duo's tot sextetten, en heeft hij getoerd door de hele wereld. Zijn muziekspraak omvat jazz (van bebop tot modern), fusion en klassieke elementen, waardoor hij een unieke en herkenbare stijl heeft ontwikkeld. Naast zijn muzikale prestaties heeft hij ook diverse prijzen gewonnen, waaronder de tweede prijs in verschillende competities.
