Over Déodat de Séverac

Déodat de Séverac, geboren in 1872 in Saint-Félix-Lauragais, was een Franse componist die bekend staat om zijn rijke en veelzijdige muziek. Hij schreef twee opera's en tal van werken voor piano, koor en orgel, maar zijn oeuvre omvat ook orkestrale en vocale composities. De Séverac, een tijdgenoot van Debussy en Ravel, had een unieke stijl die herinnerde aan de muziek van zijn tijd, maar ook zijn eigen karakteristieke toets droeg. Geboren uit een adellijke familie, bleef hij altijd verbonden met zijn geboortestreek, het Lauragais. Zijn muziek is een weerspiegeling van zijn diepe wortels en zijn passie voor de Franse cultuur.
