Over Ottorino Respighi

Ottorino Respighi, geboren in Bologna in 1879 en overleden in Rome in 1936, was een veelzijdig Italiaans componist, musicoloog en dirigent. Hij behoorde tot de "generazione dell'Ottanta," een groep muzikanten die de Italiaanse muziek van die tijd vernieuwden. Respighi's werk is gekenmerkt door een eclectische stijl, waarin Franse, Russische en Duitse invloeden samenkomen. Hij is vooral bekend om zijn serie poëzie voor orkest gewijd aan Rome, met name "I pini di Roma," een van zijn meest beroemde en vaak uitgevoerde composities.
