Jacques Loussier was een Franse jazzpianist en componist die wereldwijde bekendheid verwierf met zijn unieke jazz-interpretaties van de muziek van Johann Sebastian Bach. Geboren op 26 oktober 1934 en overleden op 5 maart 2019, creëerde Loussier een brug tussen de klassieke muziek van Bach en de jazz, wat hem een enorm publiek bezorgde. Zijn trio, bestaande uit piano, contrabas en percussie, bracht frisse en meeslepende versies van Bachs werken, zoals de Toccata en Fugue in d-klein en de Air op een G-snaar.
