Ildebrando Pizzetti, geboren in Parma op 20 september 1880 en overleden in Rome op 13 februari 1968, was een invloedrijke figuur in de Italiaanse klassieke muziek. Als componist, musicoloog en muziekcriticus heeft hij een blijvende stempel gedrukt op de muziekwereld. Pizzetti behoorde tot de 'Generazione dell'80', een groep componisten die de Italiaanse muziek in de vroege 20e eeuw vernieuwden. Zijn werken omvatten opera's en requiems, waarbij zijn Concerto dell'estate uit 1928 een van zijn meest opvallende composities is.
