Philippe Gaubert, geboren in Cahors op 5 juli 1879 en overleden in Parijs op 8 juli 1941, was een veelzijdig Franse musicus die bekend stond als een uitstekende fluitist, dirigent en componist. Gaubert studeerde aan het Conservatoire de Paris onder de beroemde fluitpedagoog Paul Taffanel en ontwikkelde zich tot een van de elite fluitisten van Parijs. Zijn virtuositeit op de fluit leidde tot een carrière als solist en later als dirigent, waarbij hij innovatieve uitvoeringen gaf van werken van Franse componisten zoals Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, Dukas en Schmitt.

Naast zijn prestaties als uitvoerend kunstenaar, was Gaubert ook een gevierd componist, vooral bekend om zijn werken voor de fluit.
