Over Luciano Berio

Luciano Berio, geboren in 1925 in Oneglia, Italië, was een baanbrekende avant-garde componist die bekend stond om zijn experimentele werk en pioniersrol in de elektronische muziek. Zijn vroege composities werden beïnvloed door Igor Stravinsky en experimenten met seriële en elektronische technieken. Later in zijn carrière verkende Berio de onbepaaldheid en het gebruik van gesproken teksten als basis voor zijn muziek. Berio kreeg zijn eerste muzikale lessen van zijn vader en grootvader, beiden organisten en componisten. Zijn invloedrijke reeks 'Sequenze' voor solo-instrumenten, die hij in 1958 begon, omvat 14 unieke en moderne voorstellingen van verschillende instrumenten. Berio's werk wordt vaak beschouwd als het meest invloedrijke van de naoorlogse Italiaanse muziek.
