Nicolas Economou was een getalenteerde Cypriotische componist, pianist en dirigent, geboren in Nicosia op 11 augustus 1953. Hij verwierf internationale bekendheid met zijn virtuoze pianospel en zijn diepgaande interpretaties van klassieke werken. Economou's repertoire omvatte onder andere composities van Robert Schumann en Franz Liszt, waarvan zijn uitvoeringen opvallend door hun emotionele diepgang en technische meeslependheid. Zijn samenwerking met Chick Corea resulteerde in het album "On Two Pianos," een unieke mix van klassieke en academische kamermuziek.
