George Lloyd, geboren op 28 juni 1913 in St. Ives, Cornwall, was een Britse componist die bekend stond om zijn lyrische en romantische muziek. Zijn oeuvre omvat een breed scala aan werken, waaronder opera's, symfonieën, concerten en koorwerken, evenals stukken voor brass. Lloyds muziek is niet alleen melodieus, maar ook onverlegen in zijn romantische toon, wat hem onderscheidt van veel andere componisten uit de 20e eeuw. Zijn levenswerk is een getuigenis van zijn diepe liefde voor melodie en zijn vermogen om emotie te wekken door middel van muziek.
