Eduard Künneke, geboren op 27 januari 1885 in Emmerich am Rhein, was een invloedrijke Duitse componist die vooral bekend staat om zijn operettes, opera's en theatermuziek. Zijn werk omvat ook enkele orkestrale composities die zijn talent en creativiteit weerspiegelen. Künneke begon zijn carrière met een studie musicologie en literatuurgeschiedenis, wat zijn diepgaande kennis en passie voor muziek en literatuur vormde. Zijn bijdragen aan de wereld van de opera en operette hebben een blijvende indruk achtergelaten, en zijn werk blijft vandaag de dag bewonderd en uitgevoerd. Künneke overleed op 27 oktober 1953 in Berlijn, maar zijn muzikale erfenis leeft voort in de vele producties en opnames die zijn composities bevatten.
