"Judith Weir: A Night at the Chinese Opera" is een opmerkelijke live-opname van Judith Weir's opera in drie bedrijven, die oorspronkelijk in 1987 werd gecomponeerd. Dit werk, dat zowel door Weir als door de BBC werd gecommissioneerd, markeert haar eerste grote opera na een eerdere opera voor kinderen. De opera vertelt een boeiend verhaal dat zich afspeelt in 14e-eeuws China tijdens de invasie van Genghis Khan, en volgt het lot van de wees Chao Lin. Het libretto, geschreven door Weir zelf, is gebaseerd op "The Chao Family Orphan" van Chi Chun-hsiang.
Deze opname, uitgebracht op 1 april 2012 door NMC Recordings, biedt een rijke en divers koraalervaring met een speeltijd van 1 uur en 33 minuten.
