Josquin des Prez, geboren als Josquin Lebloitte dit des Prez, was een van de meest invloedrijke componisten van de Hoogrenaissance. Geboren rond 1450 in het huidige Henegouwen, bracht hij een diepgaande invloed aan op de Europese muziek van de 16e eeuw. Als centrale figuur van de Franco-Flemse School staat hij bekend om zijn complexe en expressieve polyfonie, waarbij hij de relatie tussen tekst en muziek benadrukte. Zijn composities, die voornamelijk vocaal zijn, omvatten missen, motetten en wereldlijke chansons.
