Joseph Leopold Eybler (1765-1846) was een veelzijdige Oostenrijkse componist en tijdgenoot van Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Geboren in Schwechat, vlak bij Wenen, kreeg Eybler zijn eerste muzieklessen van zijn vader, een schoolmeester en koorleider. Zijn talent werd al vroeg herkend, en op zesjarige leeftijd kreeg hij een plek in het prestigieuze knapenkoor van St. Stephan in Wenen, waar ook de broers Haydn hun opleiding genoten hadden.

Eybler's carrière was markant door zijn bijdragen aan de kerkmuziek en zijn nauwe vriendschap met Mozart. Hij studeerde compositie en contrapunt, en zijn werk omvat een breed scala aan genres, waaronder concerten, kamermuziek en oratoria. Een van zijn bekendste werken is het Klarinetconcert in Bes-groot, geschreven voor de virtuoze klarinettist Anton Stadler.
