Naná Vasconcelos was een visionair Braziliaanse percussionist, zanger en berimbau-speler, geboren in Recife in 1944. Hij begon zijn muzikale reis als drummer bij lokale maracatu-groepen en fanfarebanden. Door zijn unieke aanpak en creativiteit wordt hij beschouwd als een van de meest innovatieve percussionisten die Brazilië ooit heeft voortgebracht.
