Robert Fuchs, geboren in 1847 in Frauental an der Laßnitz, Oostenrijk, was een invloedrijke componist en muziekleraar wiens werk diep geworteld is in de romantische traditie. Zijn stijl werd sterk beïnvloed door grote namen als Franz Schubert en Johannes Brahms, wat resulteerde in een rijke en melodieuze compositiestijl. Fuchs was vooral bekend om zijn kamermuziek, een genre waarin hij zijn vaardigheid en diepgaande begrip van harmonische structuren kon tonen.
