Franz Ignaz Danzi, geboren in Schwetzingen in 1763, was een veelzijdig talent op het gebied van muziek. Als zoon van de beroemde Italiaanse cellist Innocenz Danzi, volgde Franz in de voetsporen van zijn vader en werd een uitstekend cellist, componist en dirigent. Zijn muzikale carrière bloeide in steden als Mannheim en München, waar hij zijn vaardigheden verder ontwikkelde en zijn reputatie vestigde.
