Gerald Raphael Finzi, geboren in Londen in 1901 en overleden in Oxford in 1956, was een Britse componist die vooral bekend staat om zijn koorwerken, maar ook in andere genres zijn sporen heeft achtergelaten. Finzi's muziek wordt gekenmerkt door een rijke variëteit aan stemmingen, van elegisch tot romantisch. Zijn favoriete instrument was de klarinet, wat ook terug te vinden is in zijn beroemde Klarinetconcert.
