Feliks Nowowiejski (1877-1946) was een veelzijdig en invloedrijk figuur in de Poolse muziekwereld. Geboren in Wartembork (nu Barczewo), toonde hij al vroeg zijn muzikale talent en studeerde in verschillende Europese steden, waaronder Berlijn, waar hij les kreeg van de beroemde Max Bruch. Nowowiejski was niet alleen een briljante componist, maar ook een virtuoos organist, dirigent en pedagoge. Zijn werken, zoals de beroemde "Rota" en de "Hymnus van Ermland", zijn nog steeds geliefd en vaak uitgevoerd.
