Guillaume Dufay (1397-1474) staat bekend als een van de meest invloedrijke componisten van de vroege Renaissance. Geboren in de regio die nu België is, wordt hij vaak beschreven als Frans of Franco-Vlaams. Dufay was een centrale figuur in de Bourgondische School en werkte nauw samen met componisten zoals Gilles Binchois.
