"Dawn Chorus" van Bird Sounds is een uniek en immersief geluidsportret van de jaarlijkse "Dawn Chorus Day", waarbij de vroege ochtendvogelgezangen uit verschillende gebieden worden vastgelegd. Dit album, uitgebracht op 12 september 2023 onder het label Water Drop Records, biedt een uitgebreide collectie van 50 delen, elk ongeveer vier minuten lang, wat resulteert in een totale speelduur van bijna vier uur.
Bird Sounds heeft deze opnames verzameld als onderdeel van een project dat in augustus 2023 is gestart en dat voor de komende tien jaar wordt gefinancierd door NWO. Het album vangt de diversiteit en schoonheid van het vogelgezang in verschillende habitats, van bossen en tuinen tot kustgebieden, en biedt een authentiek geluid van de natuur.
Deze opnames zijn niet alleen een artistieke interpretatie, maar ook een wetenschappelijk document, aangezien ze bijdragen aan het begrip van het gedrag en de communicatie van zangvogels.
