Cécile Chaminade, geboren in 1857 in Parijs, was een buitengewoon talentvolle Franse componiste en pianist. Chaminade was een van de meest succesvolle componisten van haar tijd en bracht meer dan vierhonderd werken uit gedurende haar leven.
