Victoria de los Ángeles was een van de meest prominente lyrische sopranen van de 20e eeuw, bekend om haar onovertroffen talent in Spaanse opera en vocale muziek. Geboren in Barcelona in 1923, begon ze op jonge leeftijd haar studie aan het conservatorium van haar geboortestad en maakte al snel haar operadebuut. Haar kristalheldere stem en timbrale schoonheid maakten haar tot een geliefde uitvoerster van rollen zoals Carmen, Mimi in La bohème, en de titelrol in Madama Butterfly.
