Cécile Ousset, geboren in 1936 in Tarbes, Frankrijk, is een buitengewone pianiste wiens carrière al vroeg begon. Op slechts vijfjarige leeftijd gaf ze haar eerste recital, en op tienjarige leeftijd studeerde ze al aan het prestigieuze Paris Conservatoire onder de begeleiding van Marcel Ciampi. Op veertienjarige leeftijd behaalde ze haar Premier Prix de piano, wat haar internationale doorbraak inluidde. Ousset is laureate van diverse beroemde concoursen, waaronder het Van Cliburn, Reine Elisabeth, Long-Thibaud en Ferruccio Busoni concoursen. Haar opnamen, zoals die bij EMI Classics en Warner, zijn van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit en hebben haar wereldwijde bekendheid opgeleverd. Naast haar concerten geeft Ousset ook masterclasses in de Verenigde Staten, Canada, Europa, Australië en het Verre Oosten, en zij is vaak jurylid bij grote pianoconcoursen. Haar virtuositeit en diepgaande interpretaties maken van Cécile Ousset een van de meest gerespecteerde pianisten van haar generatie.
