Op 29 oktober 2021 werd een unieke en historisch belangrijke live-opname van Johnny Cash uitgebracht: "Bear's Sonic Journals: Live At The Carousel Ballroom, April 24 1968". Dit album, uitgebracht door Legacy Recordings, biedt een kijkje in een tijd waarin country muziek en de countercultuur elkaar ontmoetten. De opname vond plaats in het hart van Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco, slechts dagen voor de release van Cash's legendarische "At Folsom Prison" album.
De opname werd gemaakt door Owsley "Bear" Stanley, een innovatieve geluidstechnicus, en is nu voor het eerst beschikbaar voor het grote publiek. Het album bevat 28 nummers, waaronder klassiekers als "Cocaine Blues", "The Long Black Veil", en "I Walk the Line".
